During busy times, our bodies and energy can easily get thrown off balance, leading to fatigue, irritability, and a general sense of being overwhelmed. Constant movement and staying busy, will eventually equate to imbalance. The good news is: There are some simple things we can do to help get “back into balance without cancelling all our plans or feeling deprived of summer fun.
- Get dark, and get grounded. When you have an extra 5 minutes, find a cushioned spot-preferably on the floor- to lie down in the dark. If you’re worried about falling asleep, set a timer. Being still and literally grounding yourself can provide a much needed break from all of that motion, and the darkness allows for renewal of the senses.
- Stop “Should-ing”. If you find yourself saying “I should do….”, or “I should really go…” a lot, take a step back and assess whether you really NEED to be doing something, or if you’re trying to fulfill someone else’s expectations. Make that clear divide between what is necessary, and what is optional. The result? More clear decision-making and abandoning any lingering sense of leaving things undone. This kind of low-level,or chronic stress can bog down our energy even further.
We hope everyone is taking advantage of what this season has to bring, and that your summer is filled with health, and wellness- and fun!
