Wednesday Wellness: The Power of Slow

By Christopher | In Motivation, Wellness | on August 29, 2018

Last week, we discussed meditation as a way to focus and boost your brain power, but did you know:

Meditation can positively impact your overall health.

According to Mayo Clinic, research suggests that meditation may help people manage symptoms of conditions such as:*

  • Anxiety
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Sleep problems
  • Tension headaches

More and more people are finding that intentionally slowing down using mindfulness-based practices (Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation) can:

  • Manage your stress
  • Increasing self-awareness
  • Focusing on the present
  • Reducing negative emotions
  • Increasing imagination and creativity
  • Increasing patience and tolerance

The next time you are feeling stressed, rushed, or anxious about how much there is to DO, take a moment to BE using meditation or another mindfulness practice.

Experience the “power of slow” on your overall health and wellness!

Up next week: We’ll offer tips for getting your Meditation practice started!

*Be sure to talk to your health care provider about the pros and cons of using meditation if you have any of these conditions or other health problems. In some cases, meditation can worsen symptoms associated with certain mental and physical health condition
