Wednesday Wellness: The Power of Slow

Last week, we discussed meditation as a way to focus and boost your brain power, but did you know:

Meditation can positively impact your overall health.

According to Mayo Clinic, research suggests that meditation may help people manage symptoms of conditions such as:*

  • Anxiety
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression
  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Sleep problems
  • Tension headaches

More and more people are finding that intentionally slowing down using mindfulness-based practices (Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation) can:

  • Increasing self-awareness
  • Focusing on the present
  • Reducing negative emotions
  • Increasing imagination and creativity
  • Increasing patience and tolerance
