Nina Polk

I graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman with a B.S. in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training option and a B.A. in Modern Languages.

After graduating, I completed an internship in corporate fitness with Weyerhaueser Company in Seattle. I administered sub-max fitness tests on Weyerhaueser employees, explained test results, and discussed methods to help employees reach their health and wellness goals.

Upon completion of the internship, I returned to MSU where I earned a teaching endorsement in K-12 Physical Education, and completed training hours required to take the national certification exam through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (N.A.T.A.). I took and passed the exam and have been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 1992.

Following, I accepted a position with Great Falls Public Schools where I taught Health, Phys. Ed, and served as an Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) working with high school athletes.

Upon leaving the school district, I accepted an offer from Benefis Health Systems where I performed athletic training outreach services for smaller surrounding communities. Additionally, I taught first aid and CPR classes to Benefis employees and outside agencies, and educated individuals on performing safely within their job description.

For the past five years I have been teaching classes at the PEAK. I teach a variety of group fitness and Seniors classes. I have found a niche where I can combine who I am, a teacher, with that in which I believe so strongly, health and wellness education. To know I taught an individual how to improve his/her well-being is a driving force within me.

In addition to group fitness and Seniors classes, I also teach Pilates. I earned my Pilates certification through Balanced Body. Pilates has been an opportunity for me to begin a new journey of learning. One of the things that I most appreciate from my Pilates' training is that learning is an ongoing process. Each day is a another chance for me to learn from a body, mine, or someone else's.
